From Day 1 Content to a Modern Digital Storefront: Martin Community College Expands Affordable Access & Online Retail with BibliU

Williamston, NC — Martin Community College (MCC) is transforming how students access course materials through a new partnership with BibliU, giving students first-day access to required resources at 30–50% savings compared to traditional textbooks.

MCC’s mission centers on affordability, accessibility, and a student-first experience—values shared by BibliU. With BibliU Access, students will receive their course materials on Day 1, bundled into tuition at a predictable flat fee and integrated seamlessly into Moodle. The partnership also reflects BibliU’s momentum in North Carolina, where eight other institutions have recently adopted its solutions to expand affordability and improve student success.

Under the leadership of President Dr. Tabitha Miller, MCC boasts the highest transfer success rate in North Carolina at 95.7% and is setting bold new targets—increasing fall-to-fall retention from 63.6% to 70% and raising course success rates by 3% by 2027. BibliU Access positions the college to achieve these goals by removing barriers to learning and ensuring Day 1 access to course materials, an approach proven at institutions like Jackson College to boost retention and GPA outcomes.

BibliU will also power MCC’s online store, introducing a modern online store experience that expands access to course materials and course related supplies, school supplies, branded gear and more…anytime, anywhere. This digital storefront makes it easier for students to browse, order, and receive what they need—whether they’re on campus or studying remotely.

“Martin does what community colleges do best—meeting students where they are and helping them build real careers in the communities they call home,” said Dave Sherwood, CEO of BibliU. “They’re training the workforce that keeps eastern North Carolina moving, from equine to public service. We’re proud to support that kind of community-driven learning.”

“The decision to move to BibliU was focused on student needs—ensuring access to textbooks on the first day of class and making them more affordable,” said Dr. Miller. “With BibliU, students have online access to required texts the moment classes start, no more waiting weeks for books or worrying about availability. This ensures no one falls behind during those critical first weeks. We are proud to have found a viable solution that supports both academic success and affordability.”
